I knoW!!! I wonder if he'd put one of them 60,000rpm bio-diesel turbines in in an R8, for me, and hook it up to a ****-ton of battery's & electric motors?!?!? How long would it take to fry all 4 tires at 2000 ft/lbs-tq, I wonder...

hmmm... the turbo sounds great in theory - but there are three things that I can see in the way...
1. jet turbines do not just start up - they wind up takes time
2. jet turbines kick out high heat exhaust - like 200+ F
3. the torque output from a jet turbine is too great for standard trannys and will need to be dumbed down
This is the inherent problem with the M1 main battle tank for the US Army. We use to burn up tranny mods regularly due to the 1500 hp the turbine produced. Even with a mod to bring it down to half it was still burning them up.

It'd hafta be ULTRA durable, ULTRA bullet-proof (HEY!!! The return of ULTRA!!! I'm gonna start using it, again, EVERYWHERE!), and ULTRA sturdy... I wonder what a hunk of generator-housing or flywheel would feel like with the kind of kenetic energy found at 60,000rpm? Bet it'd sting, a l'il, huh?

What if you COULD buy a H2 that got 60 or 100 miles/gal and did 0-60 in, like 6-seconds... You'd buy one in a New York SECOND if you had teh loot, wudn't you? I know *I* would.

That was a good article. One thing about turbine engines, they do take time to spin up. It's not like you flip a switch and it's automatically running at 10k RPM
