How many of you guys have gotten a ticket even though u had a radar detector and it was ON?

 

I have a radar gun, been pulled over 1 with it, and even more without it.

 

so worth the money or no?

 

definately worth the money. It saves me multiples tickets everytime i drive from Santa Barbara to the bay area. 300 mile drive

 

The only ticket I ever got was driving my dads car in high school with a radar detector and got pulled over. They are ok when there is traffic but totally useless when your alone on the road. I don't speed too much anymore, so I don't have one.

 

if you buy one buy a good one! the main problem about them is they make you feel invincable but they dont make you invincable. the way a laser works is they zap you and boom they have a reading so they have your speed at the same time the detector goes off which isnt enough time for you to slow down.

if anything, radar detectors encourage speeding.

 

yea i kno. i know if i get one then i would start to speed more. at the moment i dont speed that much. But i never drive on roads alone. I live in a large area with lots of people and cars so i would get a reading of the other cars right? How close would a car have to be to me (the range of the detector)?

i had one for 2 weeks and then returned it because it wasnt worth the money, the k40 is good but way too expenisve for a high school student to afford, spend your money on mods instead but the problem with radar detectors is much of the time you find yourself speeding alot more than you would without one therefore the dector saves you alot but also you still get pulled over cause you are speeding twice as much as without one.

I agree with the posts above. Detectors work in certain traffic situations, but won't really save you much. Spend your $$ on mods.
