Default I accidentally my whole oil pan last friday.... (56K, STFU NOOB)

Was on my way to Hooters friday night for dinner after work. Bottomed out in a halfassed construction repair patch. Knew it was a bad one, checked the rear view and I was throwing a hell of a smoke screen. Nursed it the last .5 miles to the Hooters lot, luckily w/o the oil light coming on. Drained about 3 more qts in their lot. So glad they didnt' call and have my car towed before I got it fixed. I pulled the pan in the lot, took it in to work, fixed it, and then reinstalled it in the Hooters lot, in the dark, in a heavy rain.

In the Hooters parking lot saturday morning.

Damage

Damage (surprised at how clean the pan was for 148,000 miles.

Cleaned up

Drilled cracks to stop them from growing.

Welded outside.

Welded inside.

Same thing happened to me last fall. Ran over a 1ft+ high curb turning into a car wash. Sat there in the cold rain for 2 hours waiting for the cops to arrive so I could get a police report.

I bottomed out on a small drain trench in front of the gas pumps at Costco, but it only scraped the bottom of the pan by the drain plug, no cracks. Nice weld job.

holy crap. i cracked mine too but mine barely dribble at all. this was when i first got my car and i kept forgetting that you should put it in neutral so that you don't accidentally let go of the clutch after you start the car lol. i had not driven stick in a long time so i was pretty rusty. i got it welded too and it's held up since. the pan is some weird aluminum so it's hard to weld. you did a really good job welding it.

I bottomed out probably a week before this incident, and it put a small crack in it that caused a leak. It was primed for a big one. Its REALLY nice being able to weld, and having access to a welder/materials. I'd be pretty F'd on a lot of things if it were different.
