Question smoking while pregnant

what do you think of smokin' while preggo? my wife and I have a friend and his wife is preggo and still smokin'. seems selfish to me. the health of the baby takes priority over her desire to smoke. however, she takes antidepressants too. hopefully, the baby comes out healthy, but we'll only know in about six months.

same thing. everything that goes into her goes into that poor child. And people wonder why kids these days have so many health and physical issues.

rediculously stupid. My wife and I both smoke, however a few years ago, when she decided to get pregnant (again) she quit cold turkey with no issues... Once she had the baby, and was no longer breast feeding, she started again...

why on earth would one want to start again after quiting?????????
so instead of your kids getting the nicotine thru breast milk, now their just getting it from all the second hand smoke!!!

Yeah, it seems pretty selfish.

I don't think they're ready to have kids just yet.

If she's on AD's then she's obviously got other issues. The real question here is why on earth did she get pregnant at all? She's clearly not in a good place to have a kid.

Ignorance - which is probably the root cause of her depression. A lack of desire to want to understand how A affects B, and a complete disregard for consequences, in general. My theory is that people get malnourished at some point which starts chemical imballances (depression) everywhere in the body, and then they start medicating, often making things worse... and it's a downward spiral.. Certainly not a thriving biological environment to brew a baby in. It is completely, utterly, totaly, definitely selfish to introduce all the toxins that come with smoking into the body and environment of an innocent baby, let alone yourself. It's sort of a medical fact at this point that cigs are bad in every way. Somebody needs to get REAL blunt with this girl about facts.

I thought that in some states it was illegal to smoke/drink while preggers. Obviously not in the state in question...

She stayed "quitted" for awhile but I could never quite kick it with my constant deplyments and stuff. Eventually she just picked it up again.

And we don't smoke in the house or around the kiddos.
