Default Legal Concerns About Emission Delete Kits

Hello everyone.

I’ve been researching emission delete kits, but I’m confused about the legal side of things. In my state, removing or tampering with emission equipment seems illegal, yet many shops advertise these kits. Has anyone had legal trouble after installing one?

How do authorities detect them during inspections or roadside checks? Are there any workarounds, like “off-road only” kits, that won’t get me in trouble? I want to improve performance and reliability without violating laws, but I’m not sure what’s safe.

Any guidance from experienced users or legal experts would be appreciated.
