Promaine's pictures of that abandoned airforce base made me want to post some pictures that I took last summer of an abandoned mental hospital near my house. The place is now a large hole in the ground, but it was open from the early 60's until about 1995, where it was decommisioned and it just sat there and decayed. At night the place was home to all sorts of wierd people, or teenagers wanting to get a scare. At night the place was creepy as any dark old building would be, but during the day I thought it was kinda cool. These pictures were taken at 10AM, I'll have to find the REALLY good ones later, these are mostly just random interior shots with a crummy digital camera

If anyone else in the Portland, OR area has any pictures of dammasch or has any experiences with the place speak up!

I've got a HUGE empty mental hospital pretty local to me that I've been wanting to get in for a while now, but the place still has it's own rent-a-cop that I see there every now and then. [:@]

Yo I have the same setup around my area. Creepy stuff, havent been out there but a bunch of my friends have checked it out. I think everyone has some freaky shutdown mental hospital in there area.

 

this place while it was still standing was really heavily guarded by the police, and I have a lot of crazy stories about how I got in or even better how we got out. Every window, door, or air vent was boarded so it was really hard to get in... and this place was HUGE!!! There definitely was a morque, multiple padded rooms, surgery rooms, and ECT rooms - but I was too scared to go in there hahaah. the place was so dark it enveloped your flashlight when you went in to the basement. They shut this particular one down because they got too many complaints that they were treating the inmates/patients badly.
