Default Look who's back on AF....!!

OK guys and gals.... Here's the first of a few chapters from "My move to Florida" story:

The drive down was great. I had several encounters with the local highway patrols, but nothing ever directed at me. The Escort 8500 did its job very well. I had one (yes only one) incident with someone who wanted to play. A Porsche Cayenne S (turbo) in Georgia thought it would be nice to tailgate me at 75mph.... so.... I decided to let him know what was under the hood of the "Yellow Dragon". I dropped it into 5th gear and walked away. He tried to catch up, but once I broke the 100mph mark I could see his "wife" motioning for him to stop his antics. I kept going at about 110 until I lost sight of him in my rear-view mirror and then backed down to a respectable 80. Good thing I did. Two miles later, the Escort 8500 rang out again. Sure enough... sitting in the trees - on the other side of the road - was a "cop in a raincoat". I was looking all around for the guy until I saw, off in the trees, way over on the other side of the highway, the unmarked car - pointing right at me.

So anyway, the trip was good. I did the 1005 mile trip in exactly 14 hours - that comes to an average of 70mph for the entire trip.

Since then (yes... it's been almost four weeks!!) I've been inundated with massive rehab work on the new house. From day two in Florida until today, I've been up and at it by 7AM and I'm not done with my day until around 9PM. It's becoma a HUUUUUUUUUGE project. I recently told my girlfiend, "I should have just bought some land and built a house instead of taking on all this rebuilding crap!!" Fortunately, she's been very understanding and tolerant. She can see the big picture and knows the pay-off is going to be great.

It's been one major learning experience, but it's also been a pain in the ****! [:@]

The new neighbors are great, though. Both next door neighbors have been very friendly and have offered to help with anything I may need. In fact, I needed a jack last week because one of the IC hoses came loose. Sure enough, my neighbor came through with his two-tonner and I had that repair done in under five minutes.

BTW: None of my stuff has come down yet. It's still in storage up North. I'll be flying up in about ten days to coordinate the final stages of moving.

Oh yeah.... there's plenty more to tell. Three separate stories about a 1948 Triumph Roadster, a Porsche Boxster S, and a Beneteau 361. But those stories will have to wait until my next installment.

Finally, I must say the rumor mongering was at its best after I left the forum. You guys are pretty creative with your stories - I had a good laugh reading the posts today.

I wonder if Imola's return will trigger another's departure... and balance to the AF universe will be restored... *sigh*

Welcome back Imola! Nice to know that your toyota priced upgrades held up for the 1005 mile drive as well as they did If all you ever see is that loose hose you've dealt with, you're in good shape! I'll know where to go when I get an S4... and want to make it into a dragon of sorts.
