RE: Looking for my first dirt bike
im 16 and i want it for mostly trails. I dont know where u guys are from but i would be riding in the palm springs area. There are some trails right off the I-10. But i want it to be pretty fast and also to be able to catch so air on it. Not huge air like on tv but some air like 5 ft mb. I would liek it to be around $1,250 so what do u think i could get or should i be looking to spend more than that. I have just dont really want to use it.

of course he is. unless this guy was working since he was 10, there's no way he can have over 10k for an audi.
i have a VERY good job, been working my *** off since i was 14, and i STILL barely have 10K to buy a car.

ur r correct the dirt bike will be for the entire family. My dad, my brother and i will all be getting them so yes my dad will be paying for this. He doesn't want to have to spend alot on it though. Like around 1500 for each of the bikes. I will be buying the S4 or SS when i have the money, I am getting a job soon and thats why i said i will be purchaisng in around 6 months if i decide on the S4 or if a SS (b/c cheaper)will be sooner.

apg, you're probably going to want to spend a little more than that on a good bike...their value doesn't depreciate like cars...for mostly trail riding, do not get two-strokes...two-stroke bikes are strictly for motocross, trust me. the good four-strokes just started getting made a few years ago ('00 yamaha was the first good one i believe)...as far as engine size...for 4-strokes, double the displacement for the same amount of power as a 2-stroke (a four-stroke 250 is equivalent to a 2-stroke 125)...i would def go with a 250 four stroke for your size (and i'm assuming you don't have much experience with dirtbikes)...honda XRs are really good trail bikes, not so great for jumps...the newer (more expensive) yamaha YZ250F and honda CR250F are the best of both worlds (motocross and trails)
