Jeff,

If you're looking for all that then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Dell XPS M1530. I have this model and it is as fast as a DESKTOP.

15INCH LCD
Dedicated nVIDIA CARD
4GIGS RAM
DVD/BLU-RAY
THIN <--------

& If you choose "custom build" you can select a Solid State Drive.

FYI-I just went to their site and I chose all the features at MAX. The total is

Starting Price$2,449

Yup, that's the one my brother is now rockin'. Doesn't have bluray, that I know of... but that's all in the config. He likes it a lot. It's pretty slim, and is very fast. I've got a Fujitsu which is aging (bought it Jan 05), but I still love it, and the brand. It's 4 pounds, has a magnesium case, and still works as good as new... just out dated in terms of performance. When I go laptop shopping next, it'll be Dell or Fujitsu for sure.

Alienware is great... but for what you need, buy a used one. The new ones are so feckin' expensive... unless you want to play hardcore games at school, I think the XPS 1530 is the way to go... or something similar.

What about Sony? I have had a Sony Vaio fsn series laptop for the last 4 years. Very slim and still looks better than most of the laptops out today. Never had a problem with it and when I do choose to upgrade I am going to buy a sony again. Amazing screen but you once again it will cost maybe $100 to $200 more for a sony. Buy through circuit city or best buy and you can get 2-3 years no interest on the laptop but then you lose the ability to customize the laptop. Just some ideas.
