Since it looks like I won't be able to find a shop to trade my 6.5" Type R speakers for 5.25" Type R speakers I might just have to go JL since I found a shop that is willing to trade my speakers for some JL speakers...

from your experience, which are better component door speakers?

Alpine Type R

or

JL Audio VR

 

either JL vr or alpine type R is good stuff....my explorer was all alpine type R...really good sound

 

I think both of those speakers are the mid-entry levels so they should be in the same range.

What are you looking for exactly, sound quality or bass?

 

sound quality... and watta u mean mid-entry level? I thought these were at least above entry level quality speakers...

From JL the ZR is the top dog the XR is 2nd then the VR
From Alpine the Type X is top dog then the R then the S
But then again the ZR's cost $799 the XR's $499
The type X $599 and the R's $299

In my car i got all Jl Xrs and they sound good Im telling you man I have a feeling my installer can make them fit
