Default Roadtrip I-10

Hey all.... I'm moving in december from south carolina to california. I've made this drive a few times but have always went on I40 through amarillo, tx, albuquerque, nm, etc. I want to do the lower route, on I-10.

Anyone ever take this the whole way across the states and if so are they any cool yet stupid little roadside attractions or smaller towns you can suggest we stop at? I really like stopping on roadtrips at those types of place.

Thanks.

I used to live in Amarillo. There's plenty of useless crap to see along that area. Like Palo Duro Canyon, Cadillac Ranch. Ok, that's about it for cool stuff. Before you get to Amarillo there's the largest cross in the western hemisphere, if that's your thing.

And if you feel like coming through Vegas on your trip, let me know, I have access to a few safehouses that you could crash in.

Laughlin and Lake Havasu is right off the I10 in the California/Arizona border

Awe thanks. I will let you know, I don't think we are gonna make it up that far. We talked about it, but I don't think we have the time this trip. We will definately be making some trips to vegas though as soon as we get everything settled.

And Laughlin...... we actually have to go through there because we have a ferret and they are illegal in cali, so we have to sneak him in that way to avoid the I-40 agriculture checkpoint.

I rode the I-10 a few times from Los Angeles to Houston and back. Pretty boring if you ask me. But if you decide to take it, check out carlsbad caverns in New Mexico. Its one crazy cave.

Be sure to come to our socal audi gtg's

my family and I went on a family road trip from Arizona to Florida all on the 10. It runs staright through Tucson which is my home town I pretty much have to use it everyday. Just don't hit Pheonix at 4:30 - 7:00 cause it's as bad as LA and some believe worse.

hmmmm ok maybe i-10 isn't the best choice then, its just that ive driven i-40 coast to coast 3 or 4 times already..... so was looking for something different

i'm moving up to the san fran area though, but if we get a chance we'll try to drive down to your gtg..... they sound quite fun

thanks guys for the suggestions though, i will definately write everything down to keep in mind

the 10 is great. just don't hit Houston, or Pheonix at rush hour. The 40 is lame it won't bring you through Tucson.
