Saab Anyone?

How do you feel about a 2003 9-3 w/ 50K on the clock? Is a good car, personal experiences?

No personal experiences, but, I have noticed a paucity of Saabs broken down on the side of the road. My lack of sightings covers something like 15 countries across 3 continents. Gonna buy a good, used Saab for my Mommie, next spring/summer, I hope! <fingers crossed>

I've always liked the look.

I recently saw a fixed up older Saab with (I'm pretty sure) a big turbo as it had a huge front intercooler in the front. It hauled ass! :D

Yeah, I was thinking about getting one for my kid sister. I figured a sensible Swedish car would be a good idea.

I bought a '99 9-5 (V6) with 150K miles on it for my daughter. We've had a few minor issues but it seems to be a good car. I like the interior but I've been told that's because it's a "guy car."

Which trim level is it Vector, Arc or Aero? I don't know about you but the Saab dealerships around here are closing down. Could be challenging to get dealer service or parts.

Otherwise, I think they are unique and could be a good car. However seeing how this is audiforums... I'd recommend an A4 or A6 with Quattro :D

Watch out for issues with ignition cassette's and never lose all of your keys!!!

I know, but I think that she wouldn't appreciate the eccentric nature of an Audi.

headshok2002 Dec 15, 2009 09:18 AM

Eccentric? Saab tries too hard to be eccentric. Truly, I love the exterior styling on the 9-3, but the interior is weird for the sake of being weird. It's not like it's terribly ugly, or even that annoying to use... but it just looks, well, weird!

Pertinent to your question, the 9-3 in 2003 was a new model, and it had plenty of issues. I worked for OnStar back in 03 and sweet jeebus, it seemed like every call I got from a Saab was because of car troubles.

im not a fan of the new saabs with the eco-tec engines, the older saabs such as the 900 and 9000 you cant go wrong, i helped my cousin buy a 900 turbo and we drove the f*** out of that car never gave us problems.
