My A4 is making a weird siren sound when the engine is on. However the sound goes away when I accelerate. Anyone has an idea what the problem problem could be? I just moved to Syracuse yesterday for grad school and I think it happened on my way here. Any good Audi mechanics near SU area? Thank you for your help.

i'll bet a case of beer it's the PCV and hose that's connected to it. it used to happen with my engine at idle and she hesitated a bit on startup. i ignored this problem for ~20,000 km then i brought it in for a check...$300 later the car runs perfectly and the startup is flawless.

 

Thank you for your the suggestions. I took the vehicle to the Burdick Audi in Cicero and they fixed the problem by replacing the breather and purge valves. That was it. Vehicle is quiet now and engine light is gone. The total repair cost including sales tax was $274.32.
