Default speeding 75/55

so i got pulled over yesterday for doing 75 in a 55.. 20 over, i thought i was toast. the officer takes my info back to the police car and comes back with a ticket for not wearing my seat belt, and a written warning for speeding. he wrote an amendment to the ticket that will make the speed warning a violation if i take him to court.. does this sound right?

There's a national push for ticketing for seatbelt violations - probably has a quota to fill.

i'd say, thank you, officer, and pay the seat belt fine.

I think a lot of cops have ceded everything below 80 in many areas on the interstate. It sounds like he was cutting you a break on teh speeding and trying to associate the pain of losing money with not wearing your seatbelt.

Why would you even think of taking him to court if he let you off with just a seatbelt fine? That would be such a dick move since he could have nailed you for a lot more money but didn't...

dont be a fool... pay the $101 fine.. and dont get pulled over again.. slow down.. If you take him to court he can add on the infraction of speeding.. and you wont like that.. and plus there isnt a real good method to beating a seatbelt ticket in court so its a no brainer

no point arguing unless you go to court the fine could be twice that of the officer asked, if you think you have a case then go to court if not pay up and shut up

Why would you take him to court? He didn't give you a speeding ticket? Cut your losses, pay the seatbelt, and be glad you aren't fighting for your license.

Yep, its time to cut and run. You got off lucky. And from what it sounds like, you weren't wearing your seatbelt.

Personally, I don't agree with seatbelt laws. If it wasn't a law, I'd still wear it, but at least alot of idiots that don't wear one wouldn't pollute the gene pool for long.
