speeding ticket
Well I was coming home from erie pa on 89 and I had cruise set on 75 a car was coming up behind me kinda fast when I got close to a u turn place in the highway the car passed me. Well needless to say there was a trooper at the u turn spot. He pulls out and pulls me and the guy that passed me over. The god damn cop gave me a ticket for 82 in a 65 along with the other guy. Its not the ticket because I know I was speeding doing 75 in a 65 it is the principle. Saying I was doing 82 it would be kinda obviouse that it would be the guy that passed me goin 82. But what can I say FTP. By the way I leave for basic training on 10/5/06 and my court date is 10/12/06 so i cant go and fight it also it was 2 hours from my house.

RE: speeding ticket
Let a reputable attorney handle this for you. It is worth the cost. They have a wonderful way of making things a little better. It is an easy job for them.

RE: speeding ticket
hmmm don't know about the laws in the USA but we have a tolerance of 10% + 2 mph which is by the dealers and government because nothing is perfect

RE: speeding ticket
The problem is i wont be home to fight it. I wont be back till xmass.
|
RE: speeding ticket
Check the small-print on the ticket. Maybe you can contact the court and request a stay, until you come home for xmass?!?!?

RE: speeding ticket
that's a good reason to fight it ( you cant be there for what ever reason ) now depending on why you cant be there is another thing and at the time was it possible you were not there to drive the car??

RE: speeding ticket
Military service (you have some sort of documentation, I assume) is a perfectly valid reason to postphone a court date. Now, you have to understand that the court is NOT obligated to postphone your date for that reason. But, you CAN request...

RE: speeding ticket
I plan on calling the court house tomorrow to see what can be done about this. From what I wrote in the 1st post dose it seem to be a resonable thing to fight.

RE: speeding ticket
You can't fight it and win all the way, but you can probably get your fine reduced by appearing in court. I know I have - and it wasn't because of my great legal mind either. ;) The judge may also send you to traffic school, thus keeping the ticket off your record - that helps with insurance, blah blah blah. So it may be worth it to get the date moved if you can.
