Rest assured that there are prolly HUNDREDS, if not thousands of others going through the exact same **** you are, for Cal-State, as well as a couple-dozen, or more, other koledgs. You arre NOT alone... And yet, you are, so very, very alone!

next time engage your enemy (the calstate computer system) at 8am on a Monday, so someone'll be thee when you call to b1tch. As it is now, you hafta swallow your tongue for 48 hours until you can reach someone to YELL at[]

Yu kno, I was thinkin the exact same thing, about a week-and-a-half ago. My car died on me, from some mysterious electrical malady, which no one can seem to diagnose. I can't afford to take it to the stealer, which is also kinda moot, since it ain't runnin, I can't get it to the stealer. Hafta take public transpo, to get to work, which means a 2-hour commute each way, instedda my normal 1-hour, each way. Hadda reduce my part-time job hours, since I don't have reliable transpo, which means less money to afford repairs. Hadda take out a loan, to afford to move into my new appartment, couple months ago, deferred the initial payments, to give me time/money to get necessary stuff, payments JUST started, on both loans, so, even LESS money. Same deferred deal with a syudent loan I took out, couple years ago, payments started on THAT, last month... did I mention that I hadda reduce my part-time hours? I did? OK. I need to somehow come up with about $5000.00 for some professional classes & certifications (CAP, CISSP, IAM, and a few others) I NEED, NEED, to keep up with all of my colleagues at work (who all have a working spouse/S-O to help out with expenses), or risk losing my primary source of income. Oh, and, I got tagged for doing 101 in a 55, the week BEFORE my car conked out, which, in the commonwealth of virginal, carries jail-time, if convicted, so I'd lose my security clearance, and BOTH jobs (since BOTH require that I maintain an active security clearance), which would prolly end up with me being homeless...

I could go on, but you get the picture....

You are not alone. phugked up stuff happens to everybpdy. Best you can do is pick yourself up, dust off the scrapes and bruises, and try to find a different way around whatever new obstacle is in your way.

Fall down 6 times, get up 7.

Success isn't a destination, it's a journey. You gotta deal with mudslides, accidents, storms, floods, lightening... ALL of that, and keep going.

RANT away, if it helps you keep your sanity, just don't start to think the world isnt against YOU, and YOU ALONE. It's not. Just remember, there's NOTHING the world likes more that sweet, tasty dreams to munch on...

Life isn't fair, nor is it easy. Have you noticed how many people have degrees, but aren't working in the fields of their majors? The end degree basically tells businesses that you have what it takes to mentally and physically make it through a set of challenges and beaurocracy and come out victorious. It is a tough process that is a lot of BS for everyone that has made it. Believe me when I tell you that both my wife and I had the same problems. I had terrible challenges in my life and great rewards. Enjoy the good, and work your way through the bad.

Thanks Chef. As I just advised a friend to do, I will keep my head up, my chest out, follow my chin, and lead with my left (I'm right-handed). As I suggested to Panda, there are always other ways around... Obstacles are just that, obstacles, not barriers. Otherwise they'd be called barriers, right?
