Default Test Drives

So whats the deal. Im only 19, can I roll into a subie dealership like "Hey can I take out a new rex?" Or do I have to go in acting like im gonna buy the car and yada yada. I have never taken a test drive and I dont really know how it works. Can I goto Audi and Subie dealerships no problem? Do i need certain credentials just for a drive.

yea you can, but they are gonna let u test drive the lowest version of whatever model you are looking at. So you're not gonna just waltz in there and they're gonna let you take out an STi...you know.

I am 17 and i have rolled up and taken cars out for test drives at Audi, but again my parents bought a car from him and i am there getting my free car wash alot so i am friends with most ppl who work there. I liek to use a B-day coming up or a graduation or something like that and say ur dad is gonna buy u a new car. or even say that an uncle or grandpa died and left u a small fortune and ull be fine. I think 18 is what most require but if u are u shouldnt have a reason for any of the excuses. I always lied and said my mom is sick (not really a lie) and my dad wont go for test drives just wants to drive the one i wanna buy. Its easy around here also b/c 16 and 17 yr olds always get new cars so they understand that its most likely true.

when i rolled up in my focus... the wouldn't let me touch a STi without a ride along.

...when i punked my dad's Aviator for the day... they asked me if i wanted to take a coke or a sprite with me.

and you ALWAYS have to look like you're really interested in A car.. notice -A- not THAT car. if you walk in all excited about one specific car... they know they've pretty much already got you... so say hello to a ride along. if you make it known you're looking to buy A car... but want to be convinced... they'll do everything they can to convince you... like throw you the keys to an STi

you have to give them a reason to take a risk

First time I went to the audi dealership, I went with two other friends (we're 22) and obviously the dealer wanted to go with us. When I went back for a second time to look at another car I was by myself and went alone. It doesn't matter, I beat on both cars anyway when driving them- the dealer should expect to be scared shitless.
