RE: Thank a Veteran
Thanks man. All of us vets appreciate it. But…You know what would REALLY be appreciated? How about giving all the vets the day off on Veterans Day?? Paid! What a concept!! All of us vets shake our heads and laugh about it every year at work, and we’re in the defense industry! All the state and fed employees get the day off, from the mail man, to teachers, to cafeteria workers etc, etc, etc.. You think all of us guys and women that have risked their lives , busting there butts serving this country in the armed forces get he day off..?Nooooooo. What’s up with that?

I can't do anything about that but I do really appreciate everything that our soldiers do for our country. We wouldn't have what we have without them. Thanks to all the vets out there including my DAD!! I'm going over to his house later to have a brewsky!

RE: Thank a Veteran
My grandpa served as a forward observer for an artillery unit in WWII. He passed on in 1990, I was only in 3rd grade. Wish he was still around so I could talk to him as a grown man. He caught some shrapnel in Italy and earned a Purple Heart, and as a result, he had a hole in his leg that you stick your finger into. Really freaked me and all the other grandkids out :-) Thanks Gramps, wish I had known you better.
And to all our boys currently fighting in the sandbox....our motives for going into this conflict were questionable at best, but I'm one Democrat who has no intention of bailing out next week and making your sacrifice all for naught. People often don't realize that soldiers are not the same people when they come back, even if you they make it through without any physical wounds. The psychological ramifications of your daily missions is staggering, and it’s nothing that anyone should have to experience, ever. Thank you for making that sacrifice and keeping my candy-*** safe at night.
