Audis are NOT meant to have a hitch mounted. Go buy a minivan and spare the A4 the ridicule.

Saw a WRX towing two snowmobiles on a medium sized trailer about a month ago. I lolled, but found out that it's rated for 2000 lbs. A4s are listed as "not recommended" for towing capacity.

Ha, well it may not be recommended however I'm sure it would tow something that weight no problem.

When I was younger my father used to tow a trailer with 3,000 lbs in it every weekend in a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme. He did it for years and the car was fine.

I mean the Miata guys always bring their extra wheels and random things on trailers at autocross.

IMO it may not be meant to and it will certainly not be pretty but I think it would be fine.

the car can easily tow a motorcycle....I hould suggest doing a recessed hitch with a cover so that it doesn't really stand out....

I don't even think a car towing something small like that is ridicilous. Its just normal transportation. Besides 400 lbs won't hurt the car. I'm sure there are plenty audi owners that have tossed a couple fat chicks in their trunks before and driven coast-to-coast. Now don't be taking mobile homes with you cuz we will hunt you down! Hey man, go for it. My sarcasm has a way of offending people, but don't listen to me. I wouldn't.

Well what is it about the A4 that does not allow towing?
Does anyone know why it is not recommended?
