a very humbling experience
There's no better time to learn than now man. It's only going to get more difficult as you get older. Go to a pawn shop and buy a shitty guitar and sit down and start to figure it out. For serious.
I'm gonna be taking my acoustic, electric, and my amp and all of my pedals and such. I've already met a few cute (read: HOT) girls who want to take lessons from me, which is going to kick off the year pretty well
but i've also met up with some guys that are great musicians, and we're actually looking for a drummer. I'm not sure what our goal as a band is but most likely just to have some fun. what kind of stuff do you play?

some of the newest stuff we started to dabble into was like Escape The Fate. i freakin love that band.
good luck on the lessons btw.. thats sick
well i don't know a whole lot about guitar but iv been playing drums for a few years and i know what you mean buy playing with people with more experience. im 16 and i play at my church with guys that are so sick and tour in other countries and i can play a dong so good at my house but then again sometimes during a service i freeze up a bit...
but at the end of the day i pull it off without blowing up the whole gig and learn from what i did wrong or right.

its monkey see, monkey do.
asking me to just 'make something up' would be like asking a mathematician to paint a picture. I can't do it.
I'd like to learn the guitar, but I'm not one that can just pick it up and go. I was hoping that with a better understanding of how it all works, i'd maybe hit on the key that would let me move forward.
Until then, it'll be mxtabs, and Judas rockin Priest (not the solo parts though)

For me, learning drums came natural, my mom said i would bang my silverware on the table at age 2 and it would make some sort of a beat. as far as creatively making something new and exciting, i struggle. i can play guitar by ear pretty well, i can listen to a song as long as it is in power chords and figure it out, if not, mxtabs or someone tab site helps out alot. i wish i was more creative at times tho. when me and my friends played in our band i had no problems, we all learned together, i got my first set, each of them got their first bass and guitar, so learning together helped us just be able to know what the other was going to do, but if i were to pick up a guitar and make something of my own, id prolly get 4 chords down in a rhythm and that'd be it.

what kind of music do you play at your church?
Yeop, just like every other T song (if you know that that is???)
I wish it was really that easy. There's a whole hell of a lot of that little thing called experience that gets in the way, though. I hate that I've let it go. Just play. That's really all any of this boils down to.
