Question What to buy... S4 or TT ??

Im looking for a winter vehicle... I live in Michigan.

Im building a 454 LSX Trans Am... Should put out around 600WHP all motor.

Im driving my sisters saturn now... and its really getting old.

Id really like to get something AWD, with a manual trans.

I was looking at A4/S4s but then i was thinking a TT would be cool.

I enjoy driving, and i always take my dog with me, so i thought that the folded down rear seats of the TT would take less abuse than the leather rear seats of an S4.

Other than that, would are reasons to go one way or the other.

It will see ~40miles of highway each day. and some back (dirt) roads.

Thanks for your advise.

Also... I am very mechanical inclined. As im building my Trans Am from the ground up.

So i can do all my own work... but you guys make it sound like all you do it repairs... I can't afford not to get to school... maybe another manufacturer...

The TT is a very reliable car. The S4... if you're talking about the 2.7T B5 S4, then it's a killer car, but can be troublesome. Mechanically inclined or not, there are a few jobs that require yanking the motor. All well and good that you can save money by DIY, but you're without a car for a few days while it's ripped apart in the garage.
If you are talking about the 04+ V8 S4, then I'd vote that route, but in an Avant. Lots of room for the dog in a rare and sought-after combo.

B6 S4s are a little out of my price range...

This is the first ive heard of the TTs being more reliable than the S4s...

Thanks for your help

The 1.8T is generally more reliable than the 2.7T.

The B6/B7 S4 4.2 gets you 12-14 MPG city/highway driving. Not THAT bad, but pretty back for daily commuter.

12-14 mpg is a bit low but not far off. If you take it a little easy you can average 17. Still not great, though. And if you're doing dirt roads just be mindful that although Audis are AWD, the suspension isn't all that beefy. I've owned 2 and have spent thousands on suspension work (not the fun kind).

Good to know.

Thanks for the info, its nice to hear things, straight out of the cows mouth.

Ive got an M70 V12 750iL that can get 12mpg...

I was hoping to cut down on insurance a bit, and save on gas...
