I just got my first Audi about 2 weeks ago (04 2.7t S-Line) and im looking to get a Sub in there.

Heres a little background information on what i know about subs:
Most all of my friends have a sub or subs in their car, but most of them dont sound too clear...
One friend has a 12" alpine type s which i dont really like the sound of, and my other friends just have like cheap subs that they bought used (kenwood or w/e) but my other friend has an Alpine 12" Type X which is the best sub ive ever heard, by far.

I listen to all kinds of music but mainly rap in the car. Im looking for overall sound clarity at fairly high volumes with the element of an execellent sounding thump with minimal rattle (I know it depends on the car) But yeah overall i just want a good sub that can bump pretty hard but still sound crispy clean for a reasonable price.

From the research ive done, I'm looking into an Alpine Type R 10" or 12", i dont really think i would need a 12" and i heard the 10" sounds better anyway. Please give me your opinion on which sub i should get. I also was looking into the 10" Alpine Type X, but i think they discontinued them.

Settle for nothing less than some Rockford Fosgates. If you're really looking for my of a clear sound over just tons of bass you'll want to look into 10". 10s hit a hell of a lot harder than 12s while 12s just out more bass. Fosgate's Punch Stage 2 is reasonably price and is a good upgrade from the P1's if you want em loud. Or you could go all out and either get some P3's or get into the Power series but those tend to run a lot more.

2nd on a good set of fosgates.

 

I was a previous owner of two Rockford Fosgate 10's with a 1200 watt RF amp. It sounded beautiful in the a6 trunk, no shaking whatsoever.

 

i have 2 rockford 12s with minimal to almost no trunk rattle. i also have a set of PPI subs they arent in the best of shape but i will sell for 60 bucks if interested they just have a couple rips but still sound amazing.

 

I have 1 10" Alpine Type R and it hits nicely..
just get a nice amp & a well constructed box..
