Whats with the b8 A4?
Just checking out the "build your a4" feature on audiusa and noticed the new a4 isn't offered with a manual trans. Wtf? Not too fond of the color offerings either? Across the pond they offer so many powertrain option while we only get two nondiesels with a tip trans.

I think it is some sort of glitch online for now as my brother is thinking of pre-ordering one and he knows that it comes in a manual trans.
http://www.terato.com/cars/content/view/999/47/ "Both gasoline engines are available with a new Tiptronic fast-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission (S tronic, aka “DSG” will not be offered). A 6-speed manual transmission is available only on the 2.0 TFSI sedan." |
They're not bringing the manual tranny to the states until Spring 09. I hear they're only offering the 3.2 V6/tip combo at rollout, with the 2.0T coming sometime later
but anyway, shouldnt this get discussed in the B8 section? |
Also isnt there something floating around about there wont be manual tranny anymore?
I swore I read and hear it but cant remember where..But its supposed to be eventually replaced I guess by paddle shifting & tiptronic tech. |
I'd rather have a stick than tip, but I gotta say, the dynamic mode (if you go with that comfort/dynamic/user option thing) is not too shabby.

A manual trans IS coming for the 3.2L early next year. At training for the new A4 we were told it's because they simply don't have a manual trans for the new drivetrain setup that will hold up to the power of the 6 cylinder (yet). One possible reason for the limited drivetrain choices here in the U.S. is every combination has to be EPA certified and that costs a lot of money so they offer what the majority of the customers will order anyways. Unfortunatley, certified in Europe doesn't make it certified in this country. At least that's my understanding, I could be wrong of course.
