your giving spirit and acts of kindness

not that we need to be recognized for the good things we do, but sometimes it's nice to knowhow other peoples' kindness are affecting the less fortunate.

i lost a bet to railrunner and agreed to make a donation to toys for tots. i "uped" the pot a bit to add more gifts. i'm not done yet and have other charitable gifts yet to give.

feel free to tell about your good deeds, whether it's a monitary gift or a random act of kindness. this is a "PAT ON THE BACK" thread.

well, I donated money & items to one of our co-workers
who lost their home during the So-cal Fires.
defenitely alot easier to give when it hits close to home & its someone you know..

I get so guarded when "donating" to the charity org's. after having first hand experince with some of them. How do I know if the gift actually makes it to the person that needs it? Lets say if I get a hold of the "hot" toy of the year that everybody fist fights over in the store and donate it. How can I be sure it makes it to the less fortunate instead of the persons kid that is collecting the donations?

M.A.D.D. (Mothers against drunk driving) put a bad taste in my mouthafter finding out Via public tax records the people running it are paying them selfs 6 figures. [:@]

May I suggest Marine Corps Toys for Tots. It's as legit as they get.
and thanks to Sweetee for being a good sport.

Yeah the Marines are about as non-profit as it gets...

Personally, I get tired of the vendors at the doors of any major shopping outlet. Now they hit you up in the parking lots [>:]

We have a homeless shelter here we donate money to and we're a continuing contributor to the local Police Activities League.

I couldn't tell you how many flat tires I've changed on these New England highways over the last year. I carry a floor jack in my van just so I can help out when I can. It can be risky business changing tires on the highways, especially since we all drive like jackasses up here!

^^^it's people like me who appreciate people like you. i had a flat once and a kind man stopped to help me. i offered him $10 for his time and effort, but he declined.

another time, i left my purse in the grocery cart after i unloaded my groceries, a man turned it in and left his name. i called to thank him. turns out he ownes a tire store in town, so i give him my tire business. obviously he is an honest man.
