R8 V10 2012 with 'ticking' noise
Hi Guys, I have an Audi R8 V10 2012 that has a ticking sound coming from around the area of the base of the handbrake. Its there when the vehicle is running, whether stationary or driving. The car is a manual. The ticking remains whether the clutch is in or out and does not speed up at any time. One tick about every 4-5 seconds (at a guess).
Some dealer said all R8 V10 2012 have this tick (which sounds simply some excuse). I asked the dealer to show me another R8 V10 on site showing the same symptoms and he declined.
It's rather like water torture because its loud enough to be very annoying and never goes away, whether its hot or cold weather or the engine is hot or cold or the aircon os on or off. Its just there!
This car has done just 6300 miles from new.
I really need other owners of a 2012 R8 V10 to confirm or deny if this is really on them all as I don't really think Audi would produce intentionally that ticking.
ANY help would be appreciated.

To be frank, the " tick " is barely audible on my R8 V8 ( same with the Lamborghini ).
If however you put your hand on the transmission tunnel just behind the handbrake , on tick over you can feel a distinct and regular " tick ", I would say every 1.5 seconds .
A video would illustrate nothing I fear.

ckicking
Actually I went to Audi with this clicking noise and after the local dealer face off I escalated it to Audi UK.
The fact is, they checked this out extensively... and... they all do it!
So like one guy said (and thanks for the responses) his Lambo did it too... expect to be bugged forever with that ticking noise down by the handbrake. They said it was a valve that oscillates.
A little hard to believe that Audi makes a car of this magnitude without thinking about correct or better placement of a valve that continuously can be heard.
I also had the paint peeling at just 7k miles and they had to refinish that too.
Anyway thanks guys once again for all the advice

The cause of the 'ticking' (a regular tick every 4 seconds, that seems to be coming from transmission near handbrake) is a valve associated with the heating system. Wakefield Audi tech found it straight away!
Valve replaced and ticking gone. :-)
Part Number: A400 820 036 A
You will know if it is the same valve, as the ticking stops when the fan is turned off (regardless of air con on/off).
