Glad to hear that there was no permanent damage from a single incident. I experienced the smell the other day after driving up this road https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3281...7i13312!8i6656 on Mission Hill in Boston.
There is a stop sign at the top, and there was a car in front of me and another one very close behind me, and I had the music a tad too loud to hear the engine, and wow, did it stink. It was still strong when I got out of the car in the garage a few miles later.
I have been driving manuals for 30 years and did not think this could happen to me, and so easily, but it really only took 3 or 4 seconds.
