01 S4 Coolant hose from coolant reservoir, where does it go?
 

On my 01 S4 I've been having some coolant retention issues. I've found a suspect hose from the coolant overflow section of the coolant reservoir. If you look at the coolant flow cap it is the hose coming out the opposite side of the container (the bottom). The hose is completely missing the other end and it was not a smooth cut.

My question is this. Does anybody know the name of the hose, part number, or where the other end should attach to?

This hose stays free as it is. It simply goes down. If too much pressure builds in your reservoir a special valve will release the coolant out.

to3o is right on it... make sure it is behind that little heat shield and doesnt lay on exhaust/turbo...

Thank you for all your replies it helped me track it down. As a followup I kept trying to track down the suspect leak but it seemed to move from the passenger side to the driver side and after a while I just dropped it in a shop I trust with a list of things.

It turned out to be a small metal pipe under the intake manifold that had rusted out, dripped down onto the V, and then would spill one side or the other. That helped explain why it seemed to move driver side to passenger side-I must have had one side up just higher than the other and different times.
