Default 2010 Audi S4 Winter Tires

I will be going through my first winter and am shopping for winter tires and rims.

I was told that I could not get jobber black rims and had to get mags because of the size of the breaks and calipers.

I am a little late in my shopping but the dealer quoted me 1841.60 plus tax for 19inch tires if I keep my mags (don't want to use my mags during winter)

I can go down to 18inch tires and get OEM mags but that puts be back 2854 plus tax.

Seems a little pricey to me. Any suggestions? I live in Montreal. Where can I find jobber mags at a cheaper price?

Any information would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

I went to tire rack and got Black Motegi Racing MR118 18" wheels and Bridgestone Blizzak ws60s for my 2011 S4 I paid 1483 mounted balanced and shipped via USPS here to Germany for the whole set up. I had it all within 2 weeks. I figured the black wheels would be great to get beat up over the winter while it kept a decent looking 18 on the car.

So is it safe to assume the stock S4 tires suck in the snow?

Most S4s come with summer performance tires which are horrible in winter.

I have a 2006 S4 and I'm able to fit 17's with Blizzaks... not sure if 17s can fit on a 2011 S4 but it costs a lot less if they do. 17's also take pothole abuse much better than 18's due to more sidewall cushion.

I've been lucky to find several sets of 17" 5x112s with good snows on Craigslist and through local forums. Costs were anywhere from $400-600. Be cautious about the hub diameter when shopping though! Hub diameter increased on A4s and S4s 2009+

I called Keyes Audi's Sales Manager, and told him how I was unhappy that I am unable to put chains on my car, even though I was told repeatedly through buying the car, that I would be able to.

And to my utter amazement, he offered to change out my Summer tires for a set of All Season High Performance.

So a new set of Goodyear F1 All Season 255/35/19s are on the way! Whew.
