Driving home last night this BMW pulls up next to me. New 540i with some nice looking wheels on it. The dude gives me a wave, I wave back and then he takes off. Big no no, I stomp on it and get up with him pretty easily.I just went stage 1 a couple weeks ago. We ran from about 70mph - 125mph, it was raining so after I passed him fairly easly I slowed down.

Nothing crazy or unexpected, just thought I'd share...

 

That's awesome. Good to know that a Stage 1 S4 can take a 540i. Those V8 Bimmer guys get a little too cocky around here. Nice to put one in his place.

I have 1 question for ya, though. Are you Stage 1 with the SpeedTuning chip....or did you scrap that one and get a different chip?

 

i havent heard alot about the speedtuning chip but the things that i have heard are very good..

 

how much power do you get from your speedtuning chip? im looking to chip so im just wondering and nice win against the bimmer.

 

Wow, ya know. I drove a 2003 330i 6 spd, ... it FELT fast, and cruised nicely at ~130mph. I'm not surprised that it would beat it, but I am surprised that you stomped him.

There are some horsepower numbers and dyno graphs for the 2.7T on their site. According to the chart, with the speedtuning chip you get 313 horsepower and 459Nm of torque since they list torque in Nm. 459Nm of torque is ~339 lb/ft, so you're looking at numbers that are right around where an APR chip puts you. GIAC is the most aggressive, so with a GIAC-X you'd have similar horsepower, but you'd have about ~360 lb/ft of torque.

That's all on paper, though. I'm very interested in what klum has to say about his experiences with speedtuning.

 

I took down my buddy in his M5...all i had was giac x chipped. Me, him and another friend in his e46 m3 raced at once...m3 has borla exhaust. M3 and M5 are pretty much equally fast (or should i say slow)

 

Yes I have the SpeedTuning chip, and it's felt great to me so far. Power is good, throttle response has improved. I haven't had it dynod but I'd say the numbers on paper sound right. So definitely no complaints, especially for $125.

Mattr7786 - I'm curious as to what bad things you've heard about the chip. I did a lot of research before setting up a group buy with them and I didn't see any negative feedback.
