95 octane in stock 2013 Audi S5 ? HELP !

Hi guys,

I have a new 2013 Audi S5, bone stock with dual clutch auto tranny. (Keep in mind the 2013 models have the 3.0L V6 supercharged engine).

When I fill up gas, I notice on the gas filler panel that is says 91 octane minimum and there's a notice for 95 octane as well...

Does this car benefit from using higher octane? We have 94 octane here in Montreal (Canada), and I was wondering if it would be beneficial... I do a bit of 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile drag racing...

Yep, with the higher octane you will get more out of the car, especially car like yours. I use 98 octane in my S6. Here in Finland we have even better gasoline available for street use like Shell V-Power Nitro+.

Here in North America, our octane rating isn't the same as in Europe.

We have 87 (bronze), 89 (silver) and 91 (gold). Some rare places carry 93 or 94 octane (like Mobil and Petro Canada).

I tried the highest available octane, 94, and didn't notice any performance difference... And I brought it to race at the 1/8th mile track.

One thing I did notice is slightly better gas mileage with the higher octane.

There's no huge hp increase via higher octane and probably not noticable just by driving. Your car is probably calibrated for lower octane, cause here in Europe there's a warning for 95 octane minimum with the mention that informed power will decrease when used. I suppose that USA and Europe cars have different ECU versions so that informed power is met in both places.
