The convertible top on my S4 opened about 1/4 the way and stopped. Wouldn't go up or back down. Nothing with the switch. Fuse OK, like the motor just locked up. I was able to use the manual tool and "reset" the motor assy, I turned the tool until it popped. Then the switch finished the job by bringing the top the rest of the way down. Tried to go up again and the same thing happened. Anyone else had this issue ? OMG if it ain't one thing.....

 

lol sorry not to laugh but you're right. if its not this its that and once you fix that, this breaks! it might acutally be your switch. i remember reading that the switches wear down over time and they dont get the electrical connection they need so you may have to jiggle the switch.

 

Yeah, suppose that could be it, but there really doesn't seem to be any deviation in the microswitch like there is when it starts to fail.

just got the same message from my 04' S4...microswitch went bad apparently...Audi claims that I can't fix it myself, that it needs to be reset with the others to work properly (or something like that). At nearly $600 I'm a bit ticked off.

 

but what good is a convertible if the top doesn't work?
