I have 2005 S4 auto and my best time (using G-Tech which is extremely accurate) was 5.355 sec. This is with a perfect launch with no slip, in S mode with ESP off. I tried like 5-6 times and I just don't see how can I push it any harder or faster. I doubt that stock V-8 S4 can run 0-60 mph below 5.2 sec.
On our local drag strip, I compared G-Tech with official timing equipment and the margin of error is less than 2/100 sec.

 

no offense to u but u are no pro driver and im postive that they could push it harder than u. Thast why tehy are pros. 5.33 is still a good time but i think if teh 4.9 isnt possibel than at least 5.1 is.

 

No offense taken. Although I am not a "pro" driver, I have plenty of experience at the drag strip (I have '73 z28 454 bbc with 500HP on motor + 150HP shot that I race regularly). So I know a thing or two about launching. Can they do better than 5.3? Yes, I believe so, but my point is very, very little, perhaps 1-2/10, no way under 5 sec.

 

OO damn taht must be a fun car. And yes i would say taht 5 flat is prob. teh best u can get out of the car if u were a pro. And we all know that noone on thsi forum is a pro so add at least .3 sec to the 0-60, ur shifts wont be as fast and ur launch wont be as good.

and what did you mean by S mode ,is that on the G tech thing?

 

no on an tip there is drive and sport and ten if u start to shift it becomes manual. S will hold teh gears longer and make teh car a little faster.

Yes, fully stock, no mods of any kind. apg96 has answered your S mode question. S mode is good, as it will let you hammer it all the way to redline.

 

Only if the driver is damn good with shifting, I mean really good. In S mode shifting is close to red line and it is fast, so you got be a fast shifter to beat it.

 

I beg to differ with Musculo i would say a "decent" driver could match an auto in 1/4 mi. And a pro dirver would easily beat it in a normal auto. Now teh new double coutch form teh TT and now in teh new A3 is a little different, im not sure if a pro driver could beat it. And Musculo if u are getting 5.33 and pro driver in a 6spd could prolly get 4.9 then. I mean i dont think that teh auto tranny is teh s4 is anything special, it should get the double clutch.
