Default CEL Code P3000 Help!!!

Well I went out for a Sunday drive today and ran it up to about 5000rpm and suddently lost power and the CEL started flashing. I flashed it and it came back with the P3000 code. I recently changed the plugs so I removed them thinking ECS sent me the wrong set but they didn't. Re-installed them and went back out at WOT and it did it again. The coil packs are orginial and the car has 52000 miles on it so I'm thinking that this is the problem but I have a few questions:

1. Is there a way to trouble shoot a coil pack prblem? Volt meter, stick my tounge on it and turn the key?

2. If it is a coil pack problem which company Beru or Meyle is better?

Thanks for all the help guys....

Jerrel

If it was a coil pack they usually crack the plastic housing visibly when the blow or go.

As for YOUR problem the code p3000 doesn't exist. The only 3000's code is p3082, which is a low engine temperature code. If that is so, check your ect a.k.a engine coolant temperature sensor. It sticks out of our black coolant line behind the right cylinder head, either blue or green coloured.

VAG 5 digit code 19456 = P3000 and yes it does exist, fault is CAN data bus, instrumentation - glow plug warning lamp ( mil ) possible causes are wiring, matching resistor in the ECM, basically means a resistor is down and system works like the O2 sensors ie: if the rear O2 sensor = the same resistance as the front 02 it throws a code that's just to explain how these systems work

^Interesting. I threw two CEL codes for the pre-cat o2 sensors last week which I am changing out tomorrow. Then I threw one for the MAF followed by the multiple misfire code. I wonder if they are all related to a short or bad resistor like you stated. My idle is horrible due to the bad o2 sensors and possible bad MAF... Thanks techbod
