Hey sooks, I would love to chip my car, but I'm not risking any wear on my turbos. I know it sounds lame, but I'm in college and have other expenses that eliminate the funding for new turbos. Even though I would love to go just k04s with a little tuning. But it seems that exhaust doesn't really hurt the turbos so I figured I would do that, not for performance gains, but for the sound. So I guess for now I'll have to stick with whomping on all the little GTPs cruising around my town, jk.
I dont think a chip has that much of an effect on the turbo life.. Its more how you drive it, and how you take care of your car thats gonna have a bigger impact and when it comes down to it, if the turbos are gonna go, theyre gonna go... chip or not...

My car had all dealer service records to current and only 55k on the odo when I purchased it. I didthe APR 93 program a couple weeksafter that, along with the TBB, DVs and boost leak check. About2000 miles laterthe turbo on thepassenger side chewed the turbine wheel up. It showed no signs of failure before the chip. I was forced to put on new k04s. I baby the heck outof it and rarely drive it. It sits in the garage 80% of the month. I am a firm believer that the chipplayed abig role inthe shortened life of my k03s.

Well a chip will about double your boost so it is going to be more wear on your turbos. But your really only going to see that boost when your foot is to the floor and your really trying to move.... I have APR93 but i spend the vast majority of my time in stock mode. The police have enough to worry about in my town without me speeding around in chip mode. Bummer about your k03's red but arent the replacements so much more fun?

Yeah I was justsharing mythoughts on chipping and turbo life. I was dissapointed in the k03s for such premature failure but yes, I do love the k04s. There is definitely something to be said for the difference between 19 psi @ 5500 rpms on k03s and 19 psi @ 5500 rpms on k04s.

does a chip change the turbo range on the S4? cause i was told that the turbo range was from 1800 rpms to 4800 rpms.. and im pretty sure that the turbos shut off at 4800 rpms...im getting a GIAC chip this month and i was just wondering
thanks
