Do you have to drill the bumper on a 2004 S4 frontend to mount license plate bracket?
My 2004 S4 Avant came with the plain front end, but I need to have license plate in my state.
Has anybody replaced their front end and taken off their bumper insert with the license plate mount? I know most states don't use front plates, and they definately look better without the plate mount, so I am guessing somebody has one sitting in their garage.
I would love to take it off your hands.
Thanks in advance.

Alright then. I thought the center section of the bumper came off, but that wasn't until 2005.5. I still thought there would be some way around drilling holes in the bumper to mount a $140.00 piece of Audi plastic, but I guess not.
Anybody know of another way to mount this license plate bracket? The center section looks like it comes out, but the Audi dealer said the only way is to drill the bumper in the center section, and it is not removable.

I might have to give that a try. Thanks. I hate to drill into such a nice bumper. And judging from this other thread it looks like it is $179.00 plus paint to replace the center section. https://www.audiforums.com/m_836903/tm.htm
Then again this car will probably never go anywhere but here in Colorado. Quattro's hold their value up here at 9000' altitude. I can't even tell you how much snow I have had to move around my house this year!

most cars now a days don't have actual nuts in the front bumper, I was shocked to see them on the 2000 Audi I have.
They just plan on the people of those states that require front plates to just use very course and thick screws and drill right into the plastic of the bumper, in fact... the Jeep I havehas dimples for the recommended locations that I should use to mount the license plate holder.

My car has a plate frame that attaches to the insert on the front bumper. I don't know how much it costs, but on my A4 Avant the plate frame was $98.00. It was a PA car and they don't require front plates like OH does.
Yeah, I bought the frame which is now $140.00. The only way to connect it is through the center section which looks to somehow be removable. But, if I ever want to sell it out of state to somebody that doesn't need a front plate, they would have to buy the new section in the center for $179.00 plus paint work, if they could match it good. Or have two holes in the front end.
