its called fly by wire system (no cables) and yes they go down but in most cases its down to cleaning the throttle body out and checking is the wire connectors are clean and tight

hes going to change the complete throttle body as its a single unit, ask him to clean it first or do it your self, any fault codes?? is the CEL on?? if not whats your mechanic reason for such drastic expensive action??

the CEL is on as well as the EPC light along with the ABS and brake light (which was found out to be an abs module) he said 8 different codes came up, i didnt ask which ones they were.

if I were to take a guess at this point I would say the VSS sensor or simply wiring fault, throttle position wouldn't set codes to the EPC/ABS but that's just a guess at the moment

I'm having a problems with my ECS system as well. The car runs fine when sitting still and free-reving, but when going down the road the ECS light flashes on and the vechicle stalls/bucks. I just replaced the ECU as that is what I was told the problems was by an ASE master tech at my work. But I'm still having the same problem. I'll check to see if the throttle body might need cleaned.
