HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
guys...
I am so upset right now. TOday I changed my engine oil for my 2000 s4, and when i screwed back in the oil plug. It couldnt be tight. Then I went to the shop to ask them what to do. They ordered a new oil plug for me. And it worked, it could be tighten up. But after a while, I found out that the oil was still leaking a little. So I thought it might be the plug wasnt so tight. So I tighted it a little more. Then suddenly it became so loose. Then it could never be tight again. WHAT SHOULD I DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO??? :( i AM SO SCARED RIGHT NOW. Is there any way to fix it besides changing an oil pan? Or I cant even change the oil pan? Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I wanna cry already........ |
RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
Do you still have the washer for the oil plug in?
|
RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
yeah...
i still have it...but the thread on it is not so good now. |
RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
in most cases the oil plug will strip the thread before the oil pan thread is damaged so renew the plug and wrap the threads with PTFE thread tape and don't take it too tight

RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
Also...chill out. That kind of stress is not healthy. We don't want to see you in a tub with a razor, a warm bottle of Beam, and a half-empty bottle of painkillers if your K03's go out.

RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
almost forgot there fit a new seal/washer to the sump plug which they should have given you in the first place

RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
That was what I thought, so the shop ordered a new plug for me. Then It could be tight at first. But it was still leaking oil a little bit. So I tight it up a little more, then the tragedy happened...It could never be tight after that.....

RE: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP
that's where the PTFE tape comes in put plenty on the thread, basically all it is is a thread sealer and much better than the washer but both do a good job
