Default Help in buying an S4.

I have been looking for a reasonably priced car for my son this Christmas. I have looked at some BMW's, Porsche's, and Mercedes (all with the help from those makes' enthusiasts). I decided to take a look at some Audi's, and found a '92 S4 Quattro in my area for $3,500, with 182k mi. I was wondering if this is a good car, and some things I should know before buying (if I try). Were the '92 S4's around 6.0seconds 0-60mph? That's a bit fast, if I am correct. I do think that I can trust my son not to speed, though -- but I'd like to get him something neat.

Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, my limit is about 5 grand from a dealership -- it's only his first car, anyway.

That would be an awesome first var! and its a nice, reasonable price id say. My parents trusted me with a 2001.5 s4, and ill tell u that i speed (like high speed) rarely. Just take him to a race track a couple of times and let him get his need for speed out, and he wont be that bad on the streets, thats what I did, and its for the better! Good luck on the search if you pick this one or not!

Thanks alot, and I'm hoping he'd like it. It stood out to me as opposed to the others I had looked at, and I think he'd have a blast with AWD + power. And I was thinking the same thing, I could bring him to the track occasionally and let him get his speeding out of his system, and trust him to obey the law on the road. I just hope the dealer still has it, and will make a deal with me. Awesome first car man, I now feel bad that I can't get him one that new

Wait, I did a kbb value and it was like 8 grand. Why would this one be so cheap? I hope it's not an impossiblity

EDIT: I put the condition on "Fair" and it gave me a value of like $3k, i think. That's in the range.

Eh, it's sold. I found a few other Audi's (one being a 98 A4 for $4500, repo'd + 94 90 Quattro), so I'll keep trying. Gotta move quick though, it's a shame I can't get him the S4...

the a4, would be nice, is it a 1.8 or 2.8?? a 1.8t would be a very awsome first car. if audi doesnt work maybe look into a 944, they are sweet to.

I found both a 2.8 and a 1.8T. I found one nice 944 in my area at a dealership, but it had been sold. Thanks for all the comments.

EDIT: with your suggestion, i looked for and found another possible 944!
