RE: hey everyone..bmw owner here
I own a B5 s4 2000 Stock with minor mods , My brother owns a 2006 m3 I love driving both the handling on both cars is amazing , the speed on both cars is FAST but when it comes down to it , I would choose the b5 S4 over the M3 for personal reasons such as , AWD vs RWD , 2 doors vs 4 doors I wanna have kids on day and i think that the 4 door is more practicale, (sp) upgradable the B5 in my opinion more available mods . Nothing like dropping the clutch at 2800 rpms and no spinningjust launch and nothing like a mustang looking at your car like its just a SEDAN and then him looking at your taillights the whole way ! Ive had my shareof problems with my car but a couple hundred here and a couple thousand there I would and will never sell the car . and the simple fact that its 4 door I have locked the car in with my wife For a Long time ......lol |

RE: hey everyone..bmw owner here
awwwwwwww man [:'(] oh well..more of a sleeper :) i had orig. thought about doing the worst thing possible and going to japan with a evo or a sti, and i was seeing that simple upgrades like a bigger intercooler or a ECU flash gives you outstanding gains..which i def. like to see :)

prob the closestB7 bumper you can do with a B5... still the rs4 front bumper ( and grill) looks a heck of a lot better imo! |

RE: hey everyone..bmw owner here
I've owned both a 2002 BMW e46 330ci ZHP and a 2001.5 Audi S4. I am not sure how familiar you are with the e46 or the performance package that comes when you get the ZHP package...IMHO though the 330ci has a more natural feel to its handling. The B5 S4 and all S-cars for that matter have a AWD quattro which RULES!!! I love the quattro but it isnt nearly as natural feeling as the bimmer because of the all wheel drive. However I truly feel a lot more confident in the corners. I was actually converted to the B5 S4 because a friend took me down to these S-turns located in newport beach,ca. We drove 35 minutes just so he could show me that my e46 couldnt keep up with his B5. He was right ...at 65MPH while my friend flew infront of me I was sitting back barely holding on at 50 or so MPH. By the midpoint of the hill I was so far behind I just gave up. I couldn't shake the thought of the back end of his S4 gliding effortlessly through these sharp and narrow turns. So about 6 months later I bought the B5 S4 and have never looked back. I have done pretty much everything to my car except for the turbo upgrade. I've even done intercoolers which most people do during or after a turbo swap. I would suggest to get a B5 S4 which is the model that ran from 2000-2002. I like the S4 better bc its four doors and its all wheel drive. Its a hell of a lot more practical than the BMW. I have ran into some problems with the car (however I definitely had more with my BMW) but all were due to bump and grind and wear and tear. If you have a good mechanic who knows what he's doing owning this car is a piece of cake. Fortunately for me I have been spoiled by a place called Eurocode (www.ecodetuning.com) in Torrance,CA who just recently won the Eurotuner mag award for best AWD Dyno and Quarter Mile in there latest Jan '08 edition. Do your self a favor and check out this months eurotuner mag it will give you a good insight on what these cars are capable of. Also a few months back they did a 2.7t tuning guide which I thought was pretty extensive. You can find all editions of the mag on their website....(www.eurotuner.com) The great thing about these cars is that tuners have yet to cease production on aftermarket parts for this car. Autospeed performance is a perfect example of what I am talking about....check out their website at (autospeedperformance.com)
Make a choice and stick with it. If its tuning you want to do go with the S4. Tuning the E46 was a nightmare I had a lot of problems with my car. But, either way you go your still euro and at least your not in a mustang! Here is a list of my performance mods: Autospeed turbo back 3inch DP, (Incl Exhaust.) GIAC chip. ASP intercoolers. KW coilovers. Dahlback Dirveter Valves. Kevlar TBB. RS4 Clutch. RS4 Motor Mounts. Oh and check out this vid....It's the epidmy of why I love the B5!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSAbsfziia8 |

RE: hey everyone..bmw owner here
Nothing shocks people more then when my big, silver, B5 S4 leaves them standing at the street light, or the bottom of the on ramp... they just never, ever see it coming... :D
Not to mention, the sound a twin turbo V6 makes with big turbos and a good exhaust will make you wet your pants! |
RE: hey everyone..bmw owner here
I have to agree, the B5 has been the ultimate sleeper in my book
