Hi octane Gas
So I know that many companies make chips with special programs to be run when you use high octane gas i.e. 93, 95 or higher. And they say that the high octane gives you improved HP. But will this hold true without a chip, in my stock B6 S4? Reason I ask is I am using 91 now but a new station opened near work that sells 93 and its not much more expensive.
It would not give you any more power than you have now. The reason the chips "need" the higher octane fuel is because they go more aggrissive with the air/fuel mixtures, timing, and boost levels. The higher octane fuel helps keep detonation under control.
Hope this helps.

Frost is correct. You actually make the most power using the lowest octane fuel that your car is tuned for. A friend of mine runs his best times on his Hayabusa on 87 octane (and not the oxygenated stuff, either.)
