hopefully my first awd Audi (help)
A buddy of mine is selling his 1993 S4, 165,000 miles. The brakes are terrible(push hard as hell and barely stop) and something whines loud when turning the wheel or letting the clutch out. I've driven the car and love it otherwise. He says the clutch will need replaced soon and the front bumper is broken. Is the car worth $4,000? What should I expect to pay when having these issues remedied? Any help will be appreciated gladly. thanks
You may want to try to buy for less. That brake fix is very expensive. Call your dealer and get some prices on the the actual brake system parts (booster, master cyl, etc). I don't remember exactly, but I think its stupid expensive. It is a hard car to find. Good luck
I changed the oil, using full synthetic, for the first time in 6 months. (the owner admitted to me) The power steering had no fluid, so once that was filled the whining stopped completely and the steering is fluid now. I took the car to a local garage and the guy "drained" the brake fluid and replaced it and the brakes seem much better. Does that seem like it could truly solve the issue or will they get messed up again in a few weeks? Both front axle boots are damaged as well. Should I offer $3K or just walk away?
