how much hp can a tip hold already searched
It's all fine till it blows up
Honestly, NO ONE has blown up the trans, regardless of power. It's the TORQUE CONVERTER then goes out. There is a seal in there that fails, it's not power related, it's heat & stress related, or just fails.
There are many, many TIPS out there will FULL STGIII & running fine, but there are also chipped S4's that had a failed TC.
IMHO, run away from LV10, every one I know that has one, has trouble with it, well except one. Just Friday, I was playing with a friends STG III tip, with lv10, it's not working, I think the VB is raising the line pressure to high, & throwing it into limp mode.

nice repsponses. the only reason i asked about level 10 was i read some ppl talkin about it and i know abunch of domestic guys around me that use them. secondly i know its not a definit number of what things can hold. i know once u touch a car its reliablitly starts to deminish. im just trying to get as much info as i can before i buy an s4 i was going to get a 6spd but now as more and more damn people from ny city are moving down to my area
driving a stick just has become uncomfortable esp in the summer when all the idiots come down the "shore" and ruin my lil beach town ha
sorry for ranting but thanks alot guys

Now if the TC dies or the VC has problems, would it kill the rest of the transmission? Or can you replace the parts and your good to go again?
Thanks
Lee

What makes you think it's that, though Mike? I don't see how the existing data wouldsupport that theory?
I'm positive (knocks on wood) it's something electrical / on the data bus...either a short somewhere in the wires, or the TCM or ABS or instrument cluster (yeah, nice to have it so narrowed down
). FYI- I'm trying another TCM this Friday which is from a 2001 model year (that has ESP) to see if that makes a difference (more apples to apples comparison). I'll let you know how it goes.
How hard does the car launch with a level 10 TC and what's a good stall speed to go with? Mine is throwing P0741 code at me like 2-3 times a week and then it goes away for a day or so. I am tempted to send my TC to L10 for a rebuild and restall.
I know with the stock TC my car isn't very impressive off the line. It'd be nice to launch with some boost and see if the car could JUMP and take off rather than roll away from the start and then build speed. I'm thinking maybe a 3000-3200 RPM stall speed would be nice and would really make a nice launch when I get K04's.

Not to hijack the thread, but do you guys know if the TC change can be done to a B6 car? One of the things that I don't like about my car is that it doesn't really launch very aggressively. The V8 has good bottom end, but it doens't hit its sweet spot until about 2200 RPM.
