Hello guys,
I am looking to buy a 2001 S4 with some damage to the left front corner. I came here to ask you gentelman for some advice and tips for the repair. Since I am not able to see the car in person I only have pics to judge from. Can you help my identify the parts that will need replacement from the pictures. Things like front bumper headlights etc. But I wanted to know what is located behind and around the intercooler that might need to be replaced??? Either of the turbos??? any pumps??? anything electric? Any tips or people looking to sell some parts that I will need please let me know. Thank you.

man let me tell you one thing please do not buy without seeing it in person and having a qualified mechanic look at it....these cars are NOT CHEAP to repair .....definetely get an AUDI specialist out there to look at it....
RE: looking to buy salvage S4 and fix
+1 on getting someone qualified to inspect it in person. Just looking at the picture it appears that the whole front clip is shifted (the engine doesn't look centered, and there looks like there are some gaps on the passenger side of the engine compartment) which could be expensive if not impossible to fix properly. Also, that wheel looks like it is off kilter, meaning it probably absorbed some significant portion of the impact, meaning you've got control arms, steering arms, knuckles, attachement points, etc., that need to be inspected.
On the other hand, if the car is inexpensive enough, I couldvisualize a pretty cool transplant into a Fox or a Golfor something! [>:]That would be lots of work, but it would be pretty cool.

I think I know the owner of that S4! It just happened with the snow storm we had.
the impact wasn't bad (10-15mph). I believe it was a 79yo man who hit it in a Subaru.
There isn't to much in that corner. The short list...
Headlamp
front bumper & supports, & bumper shock
fender
front core support
intercooler (I have a spare if you need it)
If you can source all the parts used, your looking a minimum of $2500.

Thank for the replies fellas. The car is in washington and I am in southern california so maybe getting someone to look at the car would be worthwile. But I dont think they can enter the facility since its a dealer auction. My dad owns a body shop with a frame machine an all. So my only cost would be the car and parts. The car has 70,000 miles on it and I am very excited about getting it but I dont wanna rush into a car and end up with a bunch of headaches and have it cost too much.
Some guy mentioned above that the engine and tirelooks shifted or offcenter. Do you guys agree??? I know its hard telling from the picture but not much else to go buy. Like I said fixing it is free. Just parts.

I agree with the motor being shifted. In the first picture it dosen't look that bad. but the second picture looks worse. probably just anghles. but the motor does looktweaked.
The price right now is 100 dollars but ofcourse this doesnt reflect the selling price as the auction will be held on monday and all bids placed now are prelimenary.

the other thing to think of is when the car gets tweaked the doors don't line up right and you get a lot of noise just sneeking through the rubber.

i will put money on it that the motor is not only pushed to the side it is slammed to the front....there is atleast one or two inch space in front of that front cover on the engine and to me it looks slammed to the front up against the radiator and ****...but i maybe wrong but yeah WE ALL WANNA KNOW HOW MUCH $ YOUR PAYING for the car......let us know that will probably decide it for most people....
