Greeting to all,

In the past I owned an impressive 97 Supra with awesome mods and of course the famous and glorious Supra woooosh sound from the huge BOVs. But I moved up in the world and so did my need to carry more people in a car, but I dont ever comprimise performance so what better than the almighty S4. Now to the point, before adding the fews mods that I have on my S4 I researched a lot and found out that BOV are a NO NO and DV are the way to go so I went ahead and got nice HKS DV. The thing is that I miss the BOV sound badly (I might sound like a ricer guy right now but its true). I heard all kinds of things to get a similar BOV sound. So my two questions are.

Is there anyway possible to get the wooosh sound out of a S4?

By drilling holes in the intake air box will a similar woosh sound be present at all? (I thought of this being extreme but Ive read of people that did it)

well you said you needed to move up in the world.... so actually do it and leave the BOV behind.. (BTW, what is with all these bov posts lately.. its like a conspiracy) also feel free to diverge from some of yoru usual companies that speciaize in import tuning... dont think HKS does a whole lot for the german market.. Im glad to hear your aboard on the s4 though.. if you want a bit more noise from your car..get a nice sounding exhaust and you can do a darintake (which is essentially what you said drilling holes in the airbox) and will give you more airflow suonding pseudo similar.

 

I hear you...fun to hear all that exotic/high powered plumbing in action...though I feel that I get quite a good "woosh" sound from my open element EVO intake and associated (AWE) intake tubing...and Baily DVs and K04s of course...

BTW - I did once have an HKS hemispherical like mesh intake for my S...piece of crap really...flowed fine...a bit too fine...let all kinds of crap into my engine!

 

Totally agree with u sooks about all these freakin BOV questions all of a sudden[:@], is it BOV season?

And dont bother messing with a BOVs on S4 the car makes a nice small 'whoosh' when u get off the gas & change gear. U cant hear it from inside (unless windows down) the cabin but others round u on the road can

 

Personally, I love hearing the turbo's spool up when car is fitted with some nice downpipes and cat-back. It isn't deathly loud per say, but it's enough to draw some attention. It just sounds so refined in a way.

 

You guys are right! Time to move on from BOV at least in the S4. Im gonna worry about others things like when my K03s blow and I need to get $5K for K04.
