New guy just picked up an 01 S4

Always been a fan of the B5 S4 but my 98 M3 was such a good car I never wanted to look for one till last week when a very clean S4 fell in my lap & I has no choice but to buy.
Car has 84k on her & I have receipts for new turbos(k03's) & timing belt & clutch at 73k Got the car for a song as the cel went off & he took it back to the dealer who quoted him 3300 for new cats 800 for 02 sensors & 475 for a new prop shaft seal(spd) after dumping 7k for the turbos clutch & tbelt 11 k ago he did not want to fix.
So I want to go with vast performance piggies (anyone know how hard to install) I have done my own work for years & am pretty good at remove & replace ie; clutches exc. but this car sounds kind of cramped & any tools to buy beforehand
& while I am under the car may as well replace the prop shaft seal & I have the same question how hard will that be.
The car runs great I do not feel it is as fast as my m3 but I assume the clogged cats are holding it back a little
Oh& I need a link to a good VAG tool & a good shop in north NJ
Thanks for your time

The downpipes are a decent challenge and a bit time consuming with those lovely heat shields, but you should have no problem except working the flanges up in there. You don't have to but you may want to buy the metal seals between the back of the turbos and the downpipes, I did just for giggles. Can't help you with the NJ thing....And welcome to the forums.

If you wrenched the E36, you will get VERY frustrated working on the S4, it's a PITA! Expect to spend about 8-10 hours doing the downpipe. VAST might not take your core if the cats are shot.

Read the FAQ, lots of good info!

3300 for Cat replacement DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUM (RAPE) hahah but yea. getting at the DP's out is no walk in the park, alot of swivels, extensions, and swear words later you shoudl be able to get them out.

I do have a Cutlass - 71 convertiblewith a mild 455 runs high 13's
It seams insane how hard simple wark is on this car. I guess I need to get under it & take a look.
10 hours for downpipes is crazy usualy takes me 5-6 to do a clutch in a rwd car.

Yea dont sweat it, its nto more difficult you just need to take your time and plan it out more.
I had a 1995 Chevy S-10 with 350 in it and that thing was a breeze to work on.
