painted my wheels, need some opinions
It's too late to "put the toothpaste back in the tube", but you asked for opinions. I think the black wheel thing has been overplayed at this point, and I'm not sure it looks right on an Audi (looks more appropriate on a Honda IMHO). Gunmetal and even hyperblack are a little fresher in terms of style, but they are getting pretty common too.
But it is your car and you have every right to do what you think makes the car look good, so I'll kindly stick my opinion about that where it belongs.
I agree with the observation that trying to paint the lip to look like a polished lip wheel is going to look hokey.
A pinstripe would certainly add a little bit of style and help them stand out a bit. I would consider a color that was complementary to the car though - silver on a silver car, blue on nogaro, etc.

yea thats why i dont like all black cuz of the steelies look. i bought some vinyl pinstriping tape of various widths and im going to put them on to give me an idea how it'd look and then ill paint it on later im tryin red first with a 1/4" width so it'll be pretty thick but i bought some 1/8" too if its too much
Nah, it doesn't matter if there isn't a pronounced rim. You're not doing it to give the wheel the appearance of depth, you're doing it to break up the black and provide some visual interest. And I think every set of all black wheels looks like steelies. I know these aren't Avus wheels, but they're an example of a black painted wheel with a bright lip. I used the same paint on the lip, calipers, and lug nut covers.
