Porsche v. S4
Sorry to all, I don't mean to keep this thread alive for longer than necessary, but if it makes you all feel better, I'm sort of hi-jacking it...
Scott, I read your comment on the other forum you posted in... The one regarding the 993 911 Turbo being the most beautiful ever made... I couldn't agree more. I'm a hardcore Porsche fan... My top 5 dream cars go like this:
1. 993 911 Turbo S (black)
2. 993 911 GT2 (silver)
3. 959 (white)
4. Ferrari F40 (red...of course)
5. 996 GT2 (blue)
The pattern's quite obvious... Some day I will own at least one of the cars in the list. The 993 Turbo S happens to be #1, and luckily it's the lowest priced as well.
The only Porsche I've ever had the honor to drive (and I REALLY drove it... a full hour of twisty backroads and open freeway) was an '88 944 Turbo S (in silverrose color). I'm planning on buying one within the next year. No words can describe the temperature inside my veins when I was driving that car.
Anyways, you're very lucky to be able to look in your garage each morning and stare at your 911 Turbo...

I'm new here, but caught this thread because I'm shopping for an A4 right now.
I currently own a 2002 911 Turbo.

I track it quite frequently, and have become a pretty decent driver on the track, but I will say this, I've been dusted by an S4 out there before. The reason, the driver! He was much more skilled than me.
These street race scenarios between cars that are so different are kind of silly, and in reality, the 'winner' (if there is such a thing) comes down more to driver and also little things such as an exact start. Just a half second jump by a 13.5 second car on a 12.5 second car can make a world of difference when you race from 30 - 70 mph or something. Most of the time, the 'start' isn't exactly the same between cars.
That's how you hear the "My new <slower car here> with exhaust dusted this mullet guy in a Corvette," stories. They sound silly, but may be true just because the guy gets a 1/2 second to a second head start and they only race up a few miles per hour then shut down.
On the track, the driver is everything. I've passed in my base 911 C2 much faster cars like GT3's, Stradales, etc. Then, in my turbo, I've been passed by M3's, Boxster S, and even an EVO one time.
I'm not the greatest driver in the world, and those with more skills (and sometimes just less fear) can destroy me in my 'faster' car.
