this is going to sound pretty stupid for you guys but, about a month ago i went and got my car tinted with an 18% Carbon based tint, instead of metallic... the reason was because the guy at the tint shop told me that a metallic based tint could interfere with the GPS signal from the navagation system, and my cell phone...

my question is, have any of you heard of this before, or did i get ripped off? it was only another like $30 for the carbon based tint, and in my opinion, it looks really good, not better than metallic, but they did a good job! nothing i can do about it now, i was just wondering out of curiosity

 

I'm picking up my 05 (early) S4 Avant next week and am having ceramic window film ut on it. It's supposed to be better at reducing heat in the vehicle (I live in southern AZ) than metal film. It is more expensive as well.

 

I have heard it about some tints. I have a normal tint and its fine. May have screwed up my radio thou. I dont care cause i only listen to my Ipod. I think its true but whatever its common or not is another story.

 

I've heard of that too at a tint shop. I don't know if any truth behind it though.

 

Yep there is truth to it. Lots of people come on this forum because they got metallic tint and now their AM radio is dead and FM is weak.
