Personally, I would say beware of buying an Audi with high miles. As a matter of fact, do your research on any car that you are thinking about buying. When I bought my s4 a couple of years ago it was almost brand new, 8,000 miles on it. Then when I got in an accident, I found out it had low miles because it was raced at a Nissan tech. center against other nissans. So it had hard 8,000 miles on it... I still love it anyways though.

Last month found my 01.5 S4 6 speed w/ 79,000 miles for only $10,000. TB and water pump done at 75,000 miles. Only issue small oil leaks-valve covers and cam tens. repaired this week with 3 month/3000 mile warrenty that came w/ car. Now time to mod!
Make sure you do a carfax and get history from previous owner.

I think from what i have been reading is the stock clutch is decent but alot of people put a stage 2 or stage 3 clutch in if you are planning future mods i would definately upgrade......another aspect is that idk what you drove before but this is an awd...meaning more pressure on the drivetrain so just look for wear on tie rods, ball joints, motor mounts....etc
My most recent car is a 93 Eclipse GSX putting down 400awhp, so I'm familiar with the harsh conditions AWD drive train endures. Unless I know for sure that the clutch is brand new, I always throw an upgraded clutch in the first week or two I own a car. I'm also planning on replacing/upgrading the suspension and related parts first. But like you said, I have read on here and other sites that the stock clutch is good, but like every other part on a car, you never really know when it will fail. They just crap out on you one day.

Yeah, I agree with you, I am extremely weary about buying a high mileage Audi...Hell, I'm weary about buying anything with high miles; especially an S4, cause god knows how it was driven before it got to where it stands now. But I figure, if I can find an S4 that has high mileage, but has all maintenance records and the seller seems genuine and honest, I'll pick it up. But obviously, I'd like to get something with low miles, preferably nothing over 60,000-70,000.
