I'd love to pick up a S4 and have been keeping my eye out for a killer deal. I found this 2000 with 110k miles about 300 miles away. Any advice would be appreciated.

Very clean interior and Well maintained (only use royal purple oil) 17 city - up to 29 hwy. in economy mode. DO


Now my questions:

Is it likely to be the head gasket? It sounds like it since the turbos are new.

How much might this cost to fix? (I'm a weekend mechanic, but I think this one is over my head)

Would I cause more damage driving it home?

i'd hold out for a better car. yea its a good deal if its just a head gasket, but driving it 300 miles to your house is not a good idea. towing it that far would cost $$$. head gasket alone isnt that expensive but the labor doing it is a lot too so id wait to find one in primo condition.

 

if you have a trailer to trailer it and know how to do a head gasket then it is a steal. But a head gasket will cost in upwards of 700 just for labor. Also wha kind of hybrids? some hybrids are junk bc they'll machine the ko3 housings to fit ko4 wheels in. This inturn can crack bc its so brittle since theres bearly any aluminum left.

 

Sounds like a deal to me if you do the work yourself and trailer it home.

Also a daily driver would be a good thing to have.

 

FWIW this was $3000, bought as a parts car.
